From the very first moment, this beautiful mama and her two sweet girls completely captured my heart. 😍

We had the dreamiest golden hour for their session—sunlight spilling over the grass, that perfect hint of spring warmth in the air, and two of the most delightful little ladies I’ve ever had the joy of photographing.

Sweet baby Stella was all sunshine and chubby-cheeked sweetness. At just six months old, she was so full of light—smiley, serene, and endlessly curious. She gave me so many of those irresistible gummy grins that photographers live for. Truly a little ray of joy.

And then there’s Kataleya. Oh my goodness, this girl is pure spark. Bold, curious, bursting with personality—she’s got that firecracker energy and a heart full of wonder. I’m not exaggerating when I say she could move mountains if she set her mind to it. Her parents are totally wrapped around her little finger… and by the end of our session, I was too. 💕

At first, Kataleya had her priorities—and they were definitely the ducks in the pond, not me. (I get it, those ducks had some serious flair.) But before long, I found myself right there with her, plotting how we might actually catch one. Just when I thought we might be convincing her parents to take one home, her dad chuckled and let me know she’s had ducks before… and, well… let’s just say they’re not part of the family anymore. 😅 So for now, we stuck to chasing them—and honestly, I think that was half the fun.

More than anything, this session reminded me why I do what I do. It’s not just about the photos (though we captured some beautiful moments)—it’s about connection. This sweet family is also a transplant to Carlsbad, and there was something really special about meeting another family who’s finding their way in this little desert town.

I left that evening with a full heart. Grateful for golden light, new friends, silly moments, and the chance to witness the magic of a mama and her girls just being themselves.
