Wenona, Illinois Mini Session | Heartfelt Midday Motherhood & Family Photos
How is it even possible that my college roommate—one my first-ever (and maybe slightly unwilling) model—has TWO kids now?! 😭
Seriously, it feels like just yesterday we were road-tripping across the Midwest with a trunk full of snacks, screaming Taylor Swift lyrics at the top of our lungs, and somehow scoring a very illegal—but extremely convenient—front-row parking spot at the St. Louis Arch. (Oops. Worth it.)
Kenz, you’ve been part of my photography journey from the very beginning. You were the first person I ever posed in front of my camera—whether you wanted to be or not—and now, years later, I get to document your sweet family and watch you absolutely crush it as a mom of two. Talk about full circle.
And motherhood? It looks so good on you. Like, not even fair. You have this calm, grounded presence that your kids clearly feel. Watching you with baby Rocky was the kind of moment that makes my job feel like magic. He’s so tiny, so snuggly, and has no clue just how lucky he is to have landed with you. And with Scottie as his big sis? Let’s just say the adventure level is about to go way, way up.
Let’s talk about Miss Scottie for a second. This girl is pure firecracker energy—a scene-stealer, a walking party, and hands down one of the funniest kids I’ve ever met. She’s got her dad’s adorable looks and her mom’s unshakable passion for candy (seriously, don’t come between that girl and her gummies unless you’re prepared to negotiate terms). She is bold, brilliant, and so full of joy. A true icon in the making.
Photographing your family in Wenona during this sweet little mini session was such a gift. The laughter, the chaos, the way Scottie doted on Rocky, and the way you just held it all with grace—Kenz, you’re the kind of mom who makes it look like the wildest kind of fun.
So here’s to you, friend. Happy early Mother’s Day. I hope you’re being spoiled absolutely rotten—pedicures, solo Target runs, and chocolate you don’t have to share. And if Scottie decides to give you a piece of her candy stash? That’s love on a whole new level.
