Where do I even begin with this session?

Morgan and AJ showed up to their couples shoot in Carlsbad, New Mexico, with a vintage Chevelle, killer chemistry, and that effortless, edgy-western style that makes a photographer’s heart skip a beat. Add in golden light, desert dunes, and a little spontaneous two-stepping in the sand? Absolute. Perfection.

When I first moved to Carlsbad, I put out a call for a model call—and that’s when Morgan reached out. She offered to wear her wedding dress for a session, but (get this!) she had lost so much weight it didn’t even fit anymore. While that shoot didn’t happen, something even better did. I found out Morgan is a fellow small business owner here in town, and we HAD to meet up for coffee. We chatted all things Carlsbad, small business, and. building your business in a new place.

And then came the magic.

Morgan and AJ brought everything to this shoot: the laughs, the romance, the attitude, and the fun. Their energy was contagious. From the way they held each other to the spontaneous dance moves in the sand, every moment felt real and playful. Their laid-back vibes paired with the retro Chevelle and the dreamy New Mexico backdrop? Literally what I live for as a photographer.

Let’s talk about the styling for a sec—total 70’s western dream. The breeze in their hair, the glow from the desert sunset, and that classic muscle car shining in the background… it all came together like a vintage love story unfolding in the sand. This was the kind of shoot that reminds me why I do what I do: to freeze those fleeting, joy-filled moments in time.

Morgan and AJ were down for almost anything (except sliding down the dunes… hard pass from them 😅), and their trust allowed me to fully create without limits. It’s sessions like this that become the why behind the lens.
