Motherhood Session at City Park New Orleans | Sunset Photos at Langles Bridge
Oh, Louisiana đź’›
There is something about springtime in New Orleans City Park that just feels alive in the softest, most beautiful way. The greens are endless, the light lingers a little longer, and everything seems to slow down just enough to take it all in.
This motherhood session with Cristina and her girls took place just as the sun began to dip behind the trees near Langles Bridge, right behind Cafe Du Monde. It is one of those spots that feels iconic to New Orleans, but somehow still quiet and tucked away in its own little pocket of calm.
From the very beginning, this session felt easy in the best kind of way. No rushing, no pressure. Just a mom and her girls spending time together, exploring, laughing, and letting the moments unfold naturally. The kind of session where curiosity leads the way and the sweetest in-between moments end up being the ones you hold onto.
We wandered through the park, stopping when the light hit just right or when one of the girls found something worth investigating. There was a rhythm to it. A softness. The kind of connection that does not need direction, just space to exist.
And yes… at one point, we did spot an alligator.
A very humbling, very Louisiana moment that served as a gentle reminder that I am no longer photographing in the deserts of New Mexico. Needless to say, we admired from a distance and kept our evening adventure moving.
As if the night could not get any sweeter, Cristina showed up with homemade sourdough cookies, and I am still thinking about them. Truly. The cookies are unreal.
Sessions like this are exactly why I love motherhood photography so much. It is not about perfect poses or perfectly behaved moments. It is about connection. The way little hands reach for mom without thinking. The way laughter comes so easily when no one is forcing it. The way these seasons, as fleeting as they are, deserve to be remembered just as they felt.
While I am still getting used to photographing in Louisiana and all of its rich, vibrant greens, I can honestly say I am completely in love with it. There is so much beauty here, and sessions like this remind me just how special this season of life really is.
If you are looking for a New Orleans motherhood photographer or planning family photos during your visit, sessions in City Park during spring are something truly special. Especially at sunset, when the light filters through the trees and everything feels a little more magical.
And I highly recommend ending your session with cookies đź’›
