Anahi decided to ring in her 21st year with a birthday photoshoot, and honestly? That decision alone deserves a round of applause. This session wasn’t about perfection or fitting into a box—it was about celebrating exactly who she is, right now, in this season of life.

We headed into the foothills of the mountains near Carlsbad, New Mexico, where the landscape feels open, grounding, and just a little bit wild—the perfect backdrop for a shoot rooted in confidence and self-expression. From the start, Anahi showed up ready to shine.

She brought multiple western-inspired outfits, each one with its own personality, but the standout moment? A bold pair of red boots paired with a matching hat. Effortless. Confident. Unapologetically her.

And then—because sometimes the universe just gets it—a butterfly decided to make an appearance. It landed softly on her boot, like it was meant to be there all along. One of those blink-and-you-miss-it moments that felt symbolic in the best way. A little magic, right on time. 🦋

Sessions like this are one of my favorite things to photograph. Not because they’re flashy or overproduced, but because they give people space to express themselves and truly shine. No expectations. No pressure. Just showing up and being seen.

Of course, this is New Mexico—so the skies had plans of their own. Not long after that butterfly moment, the clouds rolled in and the rain started pouring. 🌧 We wrapped things up, laughed it off, and called it a pause instead of an ending.

A few days later, we picked things back up for part two.

That’s the beauty of these kinds of sessions: they’re flexible, personal, and meant to evolve. Just like the people in front of the camera.
